Cinedigm Continues Digi Cinema Focus with Exec Appointments

Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corp. announced two significant executive changes today, effective immediately: Adam Mizel has been named chief operating officer and chief financial officer; and Gary Loffredo is now president of Digital Cinema Services in addition to his continuing responsibilities as general counsel. The moves are part of the companys refocus on its digital cinema platform, which so far this year has resulting in Cinedigm signing over 3,000 new screens to license agreements, bringing its total deployment to more than 9,700 screens with 154 exhibitors.

Pittman to Lead Clear Channel into Digital Future

Bob Pittman has been named chief executive officer of Clear Channels parent company CC Media Holdings and will join the Board of Directors of CC Media Holdings and Clear Channel Communications, effective immediately. He also will join the board of directors of Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings as its executive chairman, according to the company’s Sunday announcement. He replaces Mark Mays, who in June 2010 announced his intention to step down as CEO and who retains his role as chairman of the board at Clear Channel.

CEOs Foresee More Economic Decline

Washington, D.C. - The heads of U.S. companies are far more pessimistic about the future of the nation’s economy then they were earlier this year, according to the D.C.-based Business Roundtable’s third quarter CEO Economic Outlook Survey. The survey of 140 CEOs showed large drops in anticipated sales, capital expenditures and employment over the next six months.

Tim Berners-Lee Elected to Ford Foundation Board

The Ford Foundation Board of Trustees today announced the election of two new members, Martin Eakes and Tim Berners-Lee. “Martin is one of the most successful social entrepreneurs of his generation, having founded a series of national nonprofit organizations. Tim’s work in the early development of the World Wide Web makes him one of the great innovators of his generation. Sun Records Sees the Light with Grooveshark

Grooveshark will become the first music streaming service to offer recordings from the world-famous Sun Records, the indie label with some justifiction for its slogan, Where rock & roll was born. Among the artists with music included in the deal are Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Roy Orbison.

IPO Proceeds Still Heading Downwards

After a strong beginning to the year, the amount raised in initial public offerings (IPOs) fell substantially during the third quarter, according to new data released by PwC. The firm said IPO proceeds totaled $3.1 billion during the period, down from $12.3 billion in the second quarter and $4.8 billion during the same period the previous year. PwC blamed the decrease on high levels of market volatility and global macroeconomic challenges, but held out hope for a future uptick in activity. .

Amazon Faces Off Against Netflix with Fox Streaming Deal

Amazon Inc. and 20th Century Fox announced a deal that will bring Fox movies and television programs to the Amazon Instant Video streaming service. This additional content increases the services number of titles to over 11,000, a 22 percent growth. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The timing helps build anticipation and speculation regarding Amazons announcement scheduled for Wednesday, which is widely believed to be unveiling an Amazon tablet that will offer video through Amazons Instant Video service, music through Amazons Cloud Player music service, applications through the Amazon Appstore, and books and periodicals through its Kindle platform.

Records show Facebook spent $207,878 on lobbying activities in 2009, $351,390 in 2010, and $550,000 in the first half of .
