Google Debuts Mobile Stock Check Service for Retailers

- Google (NASD: GOOG) this week rolled
out a new mobile shopping feature that lets consumers check to see if items
they are interested in purchasing are in stock at nearby retail stores. Initial
mobile Product Search retail partners include Best Buy, Sears, Williams-Sonoma,
Pottery Barn and West Elm. The service works with Android-powered mobile

Digital Ad Firm Eyeblaster Files for $115 Million IPO

- After withdrawing plans for a previous IPO back in 2008, Eyeblaster, a
provider of digital marketing and advertising services, announced on Wednesday
that it has filed a registration statement with the SEC to raise up to $115
million in an initial public offering of shares. J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Bank will

Dailymotion Taps Auditude for Video Advertising

- Auditude, a provider of
video ad management and monetization services, announced on Tuesday that it
will provide its services to Dailymotion, the France-based video site that
counts 66 million monthly visitors. The deal, Auditude’s first international
contract, will see the company handle video ads for the site’s catalog of more

"American Idol" Contestants Forced to Dump Social Media Profiles

- Contestants on the current season of "American Idol" have been made
to shutter existing profiles on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, and instead have
posted notes to fans to follow them on the "official" American Idol
feed on Twitter. Several reports speculate that the reasoning was to make it
more difficult to ascertain the popularity of a contestant, based on their

new owner of the assets of video service Joost, on Thursday launched the Joost
Video Network, an online ad network. The network will serve ads both to users

Report: 21% Fewer Americans Buying Music

New York - The number of U.S. music purchasers declined by
24 million between 2007 and 2009, a drop of 21% during a period when consumers
were purchasing far fewer CDs but beginning to experiment more with digital
music, according to data presented by market research firm NPD Group at Digital
Media Wire’s Digital Music Forum East conference in New York this week. The
market lost 33 million CD buyers between 2007-2009; the number of Americans
purchasing digital song downloads also dropped, from 35.2 million in 2008 to

Google Faces Class Action Suit Over Buzz Privacy Issues

- Despite the company’s attempts to address negative feedback by beefing up the
privacy features on its new Buzz social features within Gmail, Google (NASD:GOOG) now faces
a class action lawsuit over the new service, according to reports. Law firms in
San Francisco and D.C. on Wednesday filed a
class action complaint in federal court in California
on behalf of Eva Hibnick, a 24-year-old Harvard Law

Google Deletes Long-running Music Blogs, Cites DMCA Notices

- Google (NASD:GOOG) has deleted
several long-running music blogs hosted on its Blogger service without prior
warning, citing multiple copyright infringement notices from record labels. The
owners of Pop Tarts, Masala, I Rock Cleveland, To Die By Your Side, It’s a Rap
and Living Ears today found years of posts deleted with the following
explanation from Google. "We’d like to inform you that we’ve received
another complaint regarding your blog. Upon review of your account, we’ve noted
that your blog has repeatedly violated Blogger’s Terms of Service … [and] we’ve
