Santa Monica,
Calif. - Adconion Media Group,
the operator of an online ad and content network, announced on Tuesday that it
has acquired Joost, the streaming TV service founded by the creators of Kazaa
and Skype. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in
2007 by Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, Joost has raised about $50 million in

Woot, the popular bargain site that offers one good (sometimes great) deal a day, has just launched a new portal at deals.Woot. The new site is a fairly major departure for Woot, which up until now has been driven by product selections from a team of Woot employees (aside from the main Woot.com site, which is often tech/geek focused, there are special subsites for shirts, wine, and a handful of others). Unlike these sites, Deals.Woot is run by its users it’s essentially a Digg for bargains.

- MySpace Music, the joint venture between the News Corp.-owned (NYSE:NWS) social network
and the major record labels, on Monday announced a global licensing agreement
with Merlin, which represents independent labels accounting for 10% of global
music sales. The parties did not say whether Merlin received any equity stake
in MySpace Music, although Merlin did note that they have agreed on an "indie
participation plan" for Merlin labels and artists, representing "an
opportunity to participate in and benefit from the financial growth of MySpace

Skype CEO Josh Silverman can’t stop smiling in this video interview we recorded in Menlo Park this morning. And no wonder – despite serious legal and spinoff drama, Silverman has managed to close his multi-billion dollar spinoff of Skype from eBay. His legal troubles have evaporated. Skype is growing like a weed. And he’s managed to keep his job running the business. Life is good.
