MySpace had a serious secret weapon when it came to fighting the bad guys - Director of Security Enforcement E.J. Hilbert. Hilbert, a former Cyber and Counterterrorism Special Agent for the FBI, defended MySpace against spammers, scammers, hackers, virus spreaders and other lowlife from 2007 until earlier this month when he left the company.

Los Angeles - Following the
trimming of 30% of its U.S.
staff last week, News Corp.’s (NYSE:NWS) MySpace social network announced on Tuesday that
it will additionally lay off two-thirds of its international workforce, and
close at least four of its offices abroad. The company, which recently saw its
monthly traffic fall below that of rival Facebook for the first time, will now

Socialtext offers a compelling package of Enterprise 2.0 services, but it has a problem. While it can talk all it wants about how great its products are, the real selling point is getting customers to use them for themselves. While free-trials work somewhat, the time constraints are limiting. So that’s why Socialtext is moving into the freemium market with its new SocialText Free 50 offering.

Sure, you could read about the history of Twitter in long-form blog posts, but that seems to go against the spirit of the micro-messaging service.
